I raced with you back in 2013, and plan on doing both Putnam rounds this year (minimum). I know its too late to change things this late in the spring, but I just read this post and thought I'd say ...

I love the idea of two sprint races, 6-8 laps / 8-10 laps what ever time will allow.

Many of you have said "reward the riders who train" for a 25 minute race ... Personally, I work at an Auto Factory - Pumping out 520 cars, working 10 hours a day, and the April event is the ONLY Saturday I have off in the month of April. I don't have time to train, hell, I don't have the energy to train when I get home. I'm in good shape, but the last couple of laps of a 25min race, when my legs will barely get my ass back in the seat suck! I'm going to do it either way because it's what I love, but at that point, am I riding safely? Food for thought, from a working class guy

I would say that is up to you to decide. If you arent capable of riding safely for the duration of the race, you probably shouldn't be out there in the first place. :-)

I know my limits, I've been doing this a while, but what about a new racer? Or Someone too competitive to be smart about his condition as the race wears on?

Bad stuff can happen in any race, regardless of how many laps it is. I'm old, I probably shouldn't be anywhere near a track.
