How does a four cylinder liquid cooled 600 run in this class when the rules say "up to 565cc for a four cylinder liquid cooled engine"?

I guess all the four cylinder liquid cooled 600s that run in this class are illegal according to the MCRA rulebook.

There were no 600cc liquid cooled 4 cylinder machines that ran in GT lites this year that I know of. Yes, they are illegal in the GT lites class. Where did you see a 600 in the GT lites?

You can de-stroke a GSXR 600 down to 565cc

You can, but it's not legal in the MCRA GT Light class this year Jeff. A rule was added last year (or maybe even the year before) to excluded the destroked 600. This note was added to the GT Light class rules:

NOTE: BMW HP2 machines and destroked 600cc inline 4 cylinder bikes are excluded from the Lightweight class.

I'm old and my memory is foggy but I am pretty sure it was the year before they ran them and they were not legal for last year. Could be wrong and it may not have taken effect until this year. But either way, Fred shouldn't have seen a 600/565 4 cylinder in a Lights race this year.

Im trying to think of any times this year that we had anything other than SV650s running in GTL. I know there were some vintage bikes at the first Putnam and we had Matt on his 250 2 stroke at Hallett and Gateway, once each, but I think thats about it.

The rule was voted into the rule book in October 2014 by the general membership.

"No longer will destorked 600cc (565) inline 4 cylinder bikes be eligible for the GT Lights Class."

Up to 565cc is there for guys on FZR400s to bore their motors out if they wanted to or whatever other 400cc inline 4 use to be popular 20+ years ago.

Is the GSXR 450, R4.5, or CBR 450RR eligible? It is not destroked, they run on three cylinders. And not twenty years old.

Going by the rules the cripple triples would be legal. From a performance stand point they would be on par with the spirit of the GTL class from what I have read.
