Who has, or does, have to ride their bike to the track for a track day?
Given all you need to be prepared I think having to ride the bike to get to the track would be a huge hassle

I have done it and a buddy of mine rides his ZX10 down and rides Novice class. I carry tape and other stuff in the trailer with me and we just tape it up when he gets there. So if you have a buddy to take some of your stuff it's not that bad.

One guy I know uses clear vinyl on the lights to speed things up a bit.

It's legal but caused a bit of confusion just the same?

One thing to think about... What happens when you crash and either break the bike or break yourself? This is why I will never ride to a track day. Not to mention, I'm usually so wiped out after riding a full day at the track, it would be totally unsafe to ride the bike home, afterward... but that's just me. YMMV.

For those cases it's good to have friends for backup. ;)

Which is exactly why I bring one to the track with me, every time!

For Test the Track - I don't see it being a problem. But like the other guys mentioned: what happens if you fall down and hurt yourself or the bike?

This is one of the reasons preventing me from being ready in August. I will go and do the test the track then, though. But for my first track day no way I can ride up and back even with someone driving my suit and other things up there

Thanks for the input.

What's your location?
Someone might be able to give you a lift.

I am in Southern Illinois, near Carbondale, home of SIU university.

I was also wondering, are there suit rentals at Gateway? Still trying, but its not looking like I can buy the suit in time.

Call Big St Charles and ask for Nick. He can fill you in on the details. Otherwise maybe someone has a loaner. What size suit do you wear? If you can give a description of the make/model/size of a suit you've tried on that fits you then someone might be able to help you out.

I lived in England for a while and it seemed pretty common for guys to ride to the track. I did it once and crashed and had to ride home in shame and without an operational starter.

I somehow bought myself a suit online, too, and I did not like it at all, even though I sent my measurements. but it seems to me that I somehow did not measure it that way. Then a friend told me to try this site and said that everything will work out and everything will be fine. I did so thank you very much you are super!!!
